The GUILLET Forged Steel Snake Head Chisel (Model 9767) is a specialized, professional-grade stonemasonry tool manufactured in France by Guillet. Forged with expertise dating back to 1643, this unique diamond-pointed sculpting tool is precisely engineered for detailed incision and fine profiling work on softer natural stones like limestone, sandstone, and soapstone.
The tool gets its "snake head" name from its distinctive, flared geometric tip configuration that focuses impact energy directly into a central point, allowing masonry artists to incise crisp V-grooves, clean tight junction angles, and sketch out initial layout lines.
Product Features & Specifications
• Blade Width & Profile: 10mm wide snake head / diamond-point geometry optimized for line definition, V-grooving, lettering background clearing, and intricate texturing.
• Shank Geometry: 8mm diameter round shank providing a balanced, lightweight body for agile hand articulation under light-to-medium mallet impact.
• Total Length: 220mm long, providing an ideal ergonomic clearance that keeps the user's hand safe from accidental mallet strikes.
• Material & Production: Shot-blasted and varnished premium forged carbon steel. The uniform steel composition is deliberately oil-tempered to cleanly bite soft masonry without shattering delicate workpiece edges, and it can be easily touched up by hand with a file.
